Field trial on safe vegetable production in one target village in Lac Duong Town (2011.08)

As part of EFLO activity, the project started a field trial of safe vegetable production, focusing initially on carrot in Lac Duong town, involving 5 exemplary farming households. This training will last for 3 months. In collaboration with Plant Protection Sub-Department of Lam Dong province, this trial experiments comparing farmers’ practice and recommended methods of soil preparation and use of agrochemicals. And the participants also learn about improvement of management on vegetable production through the trainig. The participant farmers are expected to conduct farmer-to-farmer extension activities.

 
Rubbish collection campaign in collaboration with Center for Environmental Education & target communities (2011.08)

The project continued rubbish collection campaign in 2 sites (1 in Da Nhim commune and 1 in Hon Giao ranger station) involving the 3 target villages in Da Nhim commune as well as the national park. The rubbish collection initiative in Da Nhim showed a good result since the awareness of the community has gradually increased and reduction of littering was observed. Too much littering by tourist aroundHon Giao ranger station area has been a great concern. The project will continue working with the national park and the community to find a solution as well as environmental education.

 
Training on sustainable coffee production in two target villages in Lat commune and Lac Duong town (2011.08)

As part of EFLO activity, the project started a training course on coffee crop, which is aimed to raise the productivity of coffee production, in Lat commune and Lac Duong town, involving 20 participants. This training will continue till December. In collaboration with Agriculture Extension Center of Lac Duong District, this training will apply a practical, participatory extension method. The participant farmers are expected to conduct farmer-to-farmer extension activities.

 
Brochure completion (2011.08)

To promote the Bidoup-Nui Ba National Park as well as the project, 2 versions of brochure (English and Vietnamese) have been printed with the support of the project, to distribute to visitors at the Visitors Center and tour operators. The brochure provides useful information about the park.
